Take an out-of-the-box approach to leading your organization.
…If you dare…
The Art of Leading Humans Newsletter.
Leadership is a wonderful responsibility and isn’t always comfortable. Its primary purpose is to chip away at everything that isn’t you and reveal the best version of yourself.
People show up to work every day for various reasons. Some come for the money, some for security, some for prestige, some driven by passion, some for the challenge, and some for the fun. Regardless of their motivations, you, your management team, and all others who lead must lead them and do it well. The expectation is that you lead them so well that they are excited to return each day, which means you must build and maintain a fulfilling and energizing relationship with every team member.
What if everyone in your company left work each day better than when they started?

Your employees deserve more than best practices and recognition programs. And so do you.
Don’t get me wrong. Best practices and recognition programs have value. But when we look at leadership as anything less than an opportunity for human connection, collaboration, and a chance to make a positive difference in someone’s life, we diminish the incredible impact it can have down to just roles and responsibilities, which is a disservice to everyone involved.
The people you lead deserve better, and so do you!
What if you had a synergistic relationship with each direct report, even those totally different from you?
Leadership isn’t a solo activity. It’s a dynamic relationship between you and at least one other person. It’s a relationship that makes things like employee engagement, productivity, and retention a by-product of simply investing positive energy into someone else. Just commit to their prosperity, and your effectiveness as a leader improves.
When you embrace this paradigm, your leadership forever changes, becoming more human and effortless. Less contrived. Your leadership becomes a gift rather than a transactional exchange. When you connect with others like this, everything changes.
